We love to hear how our babies are doing later down the road. It is very rewarding and makes our hard work all worthwhile to know that our puppies have been such a source of joy to so many people.
If you have purchased a puppy from us and would like tell others about your experience, please e-mail the webmaster.

Hi Beverly! I just wanted to send you a note to update you on the puppy. We named her Lily and she has been doing great! She's almost four months old now and she's between 6.5 and 7 pounds... that was about two weeks ago when we were last at the vet anyway :) We'll be going again in a week or so for a check up and to get some heartworm medication so we'll see if she has grown again then! She's very energetic and loves to play with us and chase her ball. She's also very loving and can't wait to give us kisses when we get home! We're having so much fun with her and I can't thank you enough for letting us have her :) She's so smart too! We started puppy classes about a month ago and she's already very good at sit, down, and come. Now we have to work on some little biting stuff that I think is more puppy related than temper related and getting her to walk nicely on her leash.
I hope all is well with you!
Thanks!
Amanda
I just wanted you to know, Libby (baby Liberty - aka Allie Blue) is happy, healthy and beautiful. My children love her very much, the neighbor kids come down just to play with Libby. We all sing to her, "Libby, Libby, Libby on the laighbor, laighbor, laighbor, you will like it, like it, like it, on the table, table, table."
She is very happy, we are very happy. I just wanted you to know, she is happy and healthy, and very well loved.

Dear Beverly and Thomas,
I wanted to send you a letter to update you on Kodiak. First, I just want to say that he truly was a gift to our family. Kodiak is just beautiful, and such a sweet pup! He is very loving and compliant, but make no mistake he is all male! He stands so proud, always with his head up, and he seems to be the one dog in any social setting that the other dogs follow, even the bigger dogs. Recently, I had him at the dog park, and the other dog owners were commenting on what a beautiful breed he is, but also about this unique quality he has to get the other dogs to gravitate to him. We just love him and have so much fun with him. We know that his breed loves people and is a herding dog, but he is so much more than that, he is actually very protective and sensitive to people's pain too. He really is a wonderful dog and we just wanted you to know that he doing great! I am sending along some pictures of Kodiak to show his progress so far. Our best to you both, and again, thank you for such a wonderful gift!
Sincerely,
Jodi & Rich Powell
And family

Good morning, Beverly!
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you, again, for my little Kogi. He has absolutely brought so much joy into my life and I can't thank you enough for blessing me with this little boy!
You and Tom were such warm and wonderful people and completely put my mind at ease about buying a puppy out of state. I'll tell you that, at first, I had a lot of reservations about going that route. I wouldn't have done so, except for the fact that it is almost impossible to find anyone who has the toy-sized American Eskimo and I fell in love with my little boy in his very first, three-day-old "jelly-bean" picture (he looked like a small pink and white little furry jelly bean)! And then I spoke with you on the phone and you were so friendly, knowledgeable and personable, that I knew this was going to be the puppy I took home to be a part of my family!
You were truthful when you said these puppies were "tiny-tiny!" I still can't get over how small Kogi and Lola were when I saw them at the airport for the first time! People on the way home kept thinking that the two puppies I had with me were either tiny kittens or young ferrets and not puppies at all. I can't tell you how many people stopped me when I took Kogi out to PetSmart for supplies to ask "what is that?" or "oh my gosh... that isn't a Beanie Baby!" *laughs* I'm soooo proud of him!
He is adjusting very well to his new surroundings and I am beside myself with how quick and intelligent he is. He's really grasping the concept of potty-training pretty quickly and knows where he is supposed to go... well, most of the time! (He's still little, so I think it's gonna take some practice on both our parts to get it right!) He follows me around the house like my little shadow and if I'm doing the dishes or fixing my hair, he'll curl up by my feet and wait patiently until it's time to play again. His favorite game is tug-of-war! (I let him win a lot! *laughs*) He's so loving, affectionate, loyal, smart and intuitive. I can't imagine my life without him.
I've already introduced him to some children, including the five that were at Dallas Airport on my way home who just adored the little guy. You should have seen his little tail wagging while they held him. I can't believe that a dog so small can be so good with everyone. I think he thinks he's a Husky or Saint Bernard and not a 1lb toy Eskie! He has latched on to my best friend Geoff's daughter Cam and follows her around everywhere. He is so good with children and I'm not at all afraid that he'll snap or hurt anyone like I've seen other toy breeds do. He is sooo gentle in every way imaginable and yet the most playful thing I've ever seen. He's got spunk and will give a little bark when he wants you to play with him.
All-in-all, he's the best friend I could ever have asked for and I thank God for sending me to your page and allowing me to meet you and your wonderful family. Thank you, again, for such a lovely blessing from heaven! God bless you!

Hi, just wanted to let you know how good we are doing! Abbie is great and we love her to pieces! She follows the boys everywhere they go! Thank you for a great addition to our family! Take care! -- Heidi B
Hi Bev & Tom,
I'm writing to let you know how wonderful it was dealing with you as co-sheltie breeders. When I found you on Puppy find we had just lost our 13 1/2 year old Shetland sheepdog Bingo to colin cancer. It was a very difficult time for us. Having another dog was what we truly wanted. This was my first experience purchasing a dog through a breeder over the internet.
Sprite was one of the puppies you had listed. When I saw his face, I knew he had to be part of our family. Speaking to you on the phone (on a daily basis) was so very easy. You were very patient with all my questions and seemed very loving towards all of your dogs. You were very careful on the shipping of the dogs, and made sure all of the paperwork was in order for me including the shipping crate. I was extremely grateful all this went as smooth as possible.
Joey "aka" Sprite is a very healthy, happy, active puppy. He instantly became part of our family. As you know already, if we were to ever get another dog it would only be from you. You're a good friend and a great caring breeder.
Thank you for everything, love Joeys family.

Hi Bev,
I wanted to touch base and tell you that Partner is absolutely fantastic. He is everything I could have ever hoped for... Even though Schaffer will never be replaced...its uncanny how Partner is so very much similar in personality. He goes everywhere I go...I have a outward hound front backpack that he just loves...so I am hands free...and he loves it. Like a Roo in a pouch. He just had his last shots..and first rabies...weighing in at 5 lbs 6 oz on friday.
2 weeks ago I lost my Belgain draft mare of 8 years old...stomach twist..in operable colic...so needless to say it hasnt been a good few months...thank god I have your puppy! He is addicted to ice! He hears the ice maker go on...he runs for the fridge...he is infatuated with the dishwasher...and follows my every step. He even hops into the shower with me! On his own! He sleeps laying across my chest..or neck...and I love it.
24/7 isnt enough time for me to spend with Partner...I cant get enough of that little guy...He is the love of my life...
I hope you and your family is doing well...You are by far the best...i cant thank you enough for delivering me my new baby that has saved me from emotional crumbling. Schaffer thanks you too from heaven...
health and happiness to you,
Laurie Friedman and Partner

Tom and Bev, well it's been about six months since we met you at Fun City to get JP! He is soooo awesome. He is wonderful with my four boys, we moved to a farm, he loves the country. He is the best dog I have ever had! As much as my husband was against it at first, they are best buds. Ed came up with his name, Ed is a big Penn State Fan, so "Joe PA" for Joe Paterno had to be his name. It doesn't matter where we go, everyone stops us and asks "what kind of dog is that? He's beautiful! My vet has been a vet for 20 years, and has only seen one in his life, and thinks JP is great! We all Ed,myself, Kobie, Rhett, Mason and Kellen want to thank you sooo much for another boy in our family. HAHA! I myself am really ready for a girl american eskimo, I even know what I'll name her. Let me know when there are some new baby girls, I think I'll be ready come spring time! Again, you guys were great to deal with! Thanks again for a great puppy! Take care, Ed, Stacie , Boys and JP in Deer Grove Il.
Our little Lucy is a toy American Eskimo from Cedar Retreat Kennels operated by Tom and Beverly Jenkens. When we first contacted them it was as if we were buying a puppy from a friend - and Lucy had been born just that morning. Several positive things struck us about Beverly and Tom - they care about ALL the puppies and the families that they will go to. They want each and every puppy in a loving home.
Although we had to wait 8 weeks, this gave us time to prepare; both emotionally and environmentally. We found puppy play pens and a travel crate and toys. Also, Beverly asked us to send her a small towel or blanket with our scent on it to help the puppy begin the transition to our home. Lucy was sleeping with us before she even met us!
Beverly also asked all the new owners to fly to Des Moines to pick up the puppies rather than shipping them. She was concerned that because of the small size of the puppies that they should get the extra attention of traveling in the cabin. Tom and Beverly both met me at the airport with Lucy and put her in my arms. Lucy greeted me as if I were a long lost friend. And, when I got back home, Lucy greeted my wife with tail wagging at full speed.
We are so happy with Lucy. She is bright, healthy, happy, and very loving. After two days with us, she knew that she needed to do her business outside. We love this sweetheart and are thankful to Tom and Beverly for helping to bring her into our lives.

I called Beverly one day in December about a puppy she had for sale on Puppy Find. I asked her every question I could think to ask her about the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She was very patient to answer all my questions. Beverly is very passionate when she speaks of her puppies. It just so happened that Beverly lived about 2 1/2 hours away from me. It also just so happened that she had 1 or 2 other puppies to take to the airport the very next day and on her route to the airport she was going to be passing through a town only 20 min. away from me and she met me there the next morning. That made it so nice for both of us and much easier on the Dasher. Yes, Dasher would be the puppy I bought from her. He's been with us for about 4 wks now and so far so good! Thank you again Beverly.
Sincerely,
Lora
Dear Tom & Beverly,
Thank you for sending Bailey to our home. When we picked him up from the
airport, he was the cutest pup I have ever seen. I was a little worried
though since he was a little quiet throughout our drive back home as I
carried him on my lap. But once we were home, he was adventuring
throughout our yard. I watched as he rolled around the grass and nip at
the grass. I smiled every time he followed me around our house behind me.
He never even thought about coming near the door into our house or inside
the garage when it was open. He would either, sit there and wait for me to
come back out of the house or go off rolling in the grass again. He's a
really cute dog, especially when he tilts his head to one side when he
looks at you when you look at him.
Now, Bailey is almost 10 months. In May 30th, it will be a year we've been
together, and a good year that I can look back to. He has become a part of
our family and has grown into a fine dog for these past eight months. He
became active and smart and very funny. Thank you again for sending Bailey
to our home. Cedar Retreat Kennel in my opinion is one of the best places
that anyone could possibly look for in getting a new puppy.
Sincerely,
Stacie W

Beverly,
THANK YOU for everything that you have done for us. Chance is a godsend. We absolutely LOVE him.
We want to do all the right things in raising him so, please, if you think of any hints, please send them. Call us anytime. I would like to keep in touch with you. Every time that I talked to you on the phone, I was very excited. Having Chance in our lives is a very big thing for us.
Right now, he is playing with a little ball. He follows me around and stand on his hind legs to try to get to me. He is just IT!
He seems to love being held, which is okay by us because we love cuddling him.
Thanks, again.
Take care,

Dear Beverly & Tom, I've been meaning to write, and express my appreciation for your follow up e-mails. Everyday Vivi gets pettier, & more independent , she learns fast, but not always the right lessons. Such as; she collects unknown tidbits, from the river and yard she's not suppose to have, and as I try to stop her she runs from me, knowing I will never out run her. Her instincts are amazing to watch. I laugh constantly. She loves to get right in there with me while planting spring bulbs, she's an excellent digger. Also branch removal is one of her favs. But the best is at the river. At first she barked and attacked the branches and sticks, and then went right into to water. I believe its a fishing instinct. But what's really great is how she behaves out in public. Here in our small town there is alot of bench sitting out in front of the bakery, the park , ice cream shops ect. And our Vivi sits on my lap, just like a little lady dog. People are just amazed at how good she is. At this point she is allowed to ride in the buggy in the town Grocery store "Charlies". The credit goes to you and Tom. She is so healthy and bright, that can only come from the very beginning with your care and handling. Nurturing and training her has been great fun and satisfaction. I am so grateful to have found you. The search, the trip, all of it was so worth while. You two must have one of the best ways to help make a living, while creating happiness down the road for people like me. I plan on keeping in touch, you never know when I might be open to more sweet doggie love! Yours truly, Susy La Veta Co.
Hey Beverly,
I thought I would write you and let you know how Bella (aka Holly) is doing. She's doing great. She is growing up so fast. She is so adorable. An absolute sweetheart. I am so thankful that I have been blessed with her as apart of our family. Her and Tink are best buds. They both sleep in the bed with me and I couldn't feel more loved. I have attached some photos for you. I will have to send you some more recent ones soon.
Thanks for everything,
Adriann & Brent
